The Feet Contact Wire

The feet contact switch has to be connected to the Paw Boards, here's how to make the custom cable for this connection.

The switch for the feet contact plugs into a 3-pin Dupont connector for easier assembly, but the Paw Board uses a JST-PH 2-pin connector.

So we need to make a custom cable that has a 3-pin Dupont connector on one end and a JST-PH 2-pin connector on the other end.

Since this cable needs to go from the center of the robot's torso (where the Paw Boards are located) to the feet, we recommend a length of around 47cm to 50cm. This will be enough to reach the feet while having some slack on each joint.

The result

Since the feet contact switch plugs into the left and right pins of the Dupont connector, we'll connect the left and right wires of the Dupont connector to the two pins of the JST-PH connector, and leave the middle pin of the Dupont connector unconnected.

Use heat-shrink tubing to make sure the two wires are well insulated and won't cause any false-positive readings when the wires touch each other.

Have you done 4 of them ? The robot has 4 feet, so you need to make 4 of these cables in total !

All done ? Oh, okay. Let's add wires to the Paw Boards to power them up !
